T Shirt Design

1. My job was to create a corporate identity for a fictitious company, and design a shirt for the company, which would be ‘sold’ at Urban Outfitters.
2. Since my design was text-based, I spent a lot of time finding the perfect font that I felt would represent the company, and warped it to create an interesting layout that would be transferred on the shirt. I created my own designs to go around the sides and part of the center of the logo, and distressed it myself by finding a pen style that resembled a distressed look, and created outlines around it. Then I shape built all of the separate parts, and printed it out.
3. What did you find most challenging about your design?
The most challenging part was distressing the shirt, and making it look like it was not messy, but an artful part of the design. Additionally, it was hard to tell what parts would get cut out and which parts would stay as the vinyl until right before I printed it out.
4. I wouldn’t change anything: I enjoyed every part of this project, except the amount of time it took to come up with a quality design that I enjoyed creating.
5. I believe that as long as the corporate identity is matched in the design, the design will come out strong. A strong design is also one that is eye catching and draws the viewer to think about the company in a positive light.
